
George Douglas Bloodworth (Doug), age 93, fondly remembered as Mr. Knife of the Red Barn Market passed away on the 18th of February 2017. He was born to George A. Bloodworth and Ora T. (Neal) on the 3rd of July 1923 in Colorado City, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edith (Minich), two sisters Ruth Bloodworth and Bernice McKinney, His brother Joe, his son Neal and his daughter Dorothy. He is survived by his three sisters, Billie Harris, Nell Toombs, Geneva (Paul) Lewis, his daughter Margret (Richard) Fisher, several nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He had many occupations, including farming, ranching, saddle bronc rider, butcher, store keeper, horse tamer, lineman and electrician. He was raised in the Baptist Church, and most recently attended the First United Methodist of Palmetto as long as he was able. He gave credit to our God in everything and relied on him when making decisions. He was a veteran of WWII, where he met his wife, also a veteran. Visitation services will be held at Kicliter Funeral Home, 517 8th Ave W. Palmetto, FL 34221 on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5- 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Palmetto, 330 11th Ave W., Palmetto, FL 34222 on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 10 AM. Doors will open at 9 AM. Interment will take place at Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton, FL. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Palmetto, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
