

Albert was predeceased by his loving wife Connie (nee Abiuso) of 53 years in 2019. He is survived by three children: Dr. A. Geoffrey DiDario (wife June Marzolla), Jennifer Weaver (husband Scott), and Lisa Landis (husband Benjamin) as well as six grandchildren: Massimo and Anna DiDario, Jackson and Anderson Weaver, Isabella and Gabriella Landis. Albert was a first generation American and first member of his family to attend college. He was born at Hackensack Hospital in NJ, to Margaret Centrella and Albert Maria DiDario of East Rutherford, NJ. Al was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School (1959) East Rutherford, NJ, Sienna College (BA 1963) of NY and Fordham University (MSW 1965) of NY. He worked his way up from a Social Worker to a Director to the Superintendent of the largest Pennsylvania state mental hospital until he retired in 1996. His career included positions as: Intern Norristown State Hospital (1966-1968), Director of Social Work Northwestern Mental Health Center in Lafayette Hill (1968-1970), Director of Social Work Haverford State Hospital (1970-1985), Assistant Hospital Superintendent Haverford State Hospital (1986-1988) and finally came full circle as the Hospital Superintendent of Norristown State Hospital where he was responsible for more than 1300 employees until he retired in 1996. He briefly rejoined the private sector at Magellan Health Services before finally retiring to care for his ailing wife. Al’s whole career was in dedication to human welfare, including participating as a country-wide Medicare Surveyor, an ally of Alliance for the Mentally Ill (AMI), President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Society for Hospital Social Work Directors of the American Hospital Association, Tri-County Fountain Center Board Chairman and Radnor A Better Chance Board Member. In addition to his passion for helping others he had a passion for opera, good food, good conversation, spending time with his family and dancing with his beautiful wife. He has been a wonderful friend and mentor as well as supportive and loving father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and brother-in-law.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 35 Old Eagle School Rd, Wayne, PA 19087. Viewing Friday March 31, 2023, in the evening from 6pm to 8pm at Alleva Funeral Home, Inc., 1724 E. Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA 19301 and also Saturday April 1, 2023 in the morning from 9:30 A.M. to 11 A.M. in the Sacred Heart Chapel of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, prior to the funeral mass.
