She was born in Malden, Massachusetts on March 15, 1931 to John and Rose Sasso.
She graduated from Malden High School and studied at Katharine Gibbs College and Malden Business School while helping her parents care for her brother Lawrence, who returned from World War II as a paraplegic.
Anna served as the executive assistant to the head of the New England Laborers International Union during the 1950s, where she interacted with celebrities and politicians including the three Kennedy brothers.
She married John George Bravacos in 1957 and began a family in Maine, then moved to New Jersey and Massachusetts before settling in Paoli, Pennsylvania in 1969.
Anna volunteered in local schools and the American Red Cross bloodmobile and was an active member of St. Norbert’s Catholic Church. She also worked at the Eagle’s Eye Warehouse Sales in Conshohocken.
She loved cooking Italian meals for her large family and whatever guests may arrive at dinner time, delighted in using her abundant energy for babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and caring for her friends.
If you were in her home, she always asked “Can I fix you something.” Most every guest said yes.
Her children and family were central to her life, including her many New England relatives and friends, visiting them during the summers and holidays, staying in touch by countless hours on the phone and by mail and (almost) always remembering birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions.
Anna is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband John, her parents, her sister Angelina and her five brothers: Joseph, Lawrence, Michael, George and John Sasso.
She is survived by her daughter Julie Siegele (Randall), and sons John Bravacos (Linda) and Christopher Bravacos (Margaret); her nine grandchildren Christopher Siegele (Charlotte Hedlund), Andrew Siegele (Jen Janesh), Patrick Siegele (Angela) and Ali Siegele; Elizabeth, John, Katherine, Michael and Anna Bravacos; and her six great-grandchildren Marley, Charlie, Xavier, Logan, Chase and Theo.
On September 25, 2023, visitation with Anna’s family will start at 10:00 a.m. and be followed by an 11:00 a.m. Catholic Mass at St. Norbert Church, Paoli, Pennsylvania.
A private, family memorial service and interment at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery was held Aug 28, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in remembrance of Anna can be made to areas of her philanthropic focus: St. Norbert Church, charities supporting babies, children, and wounded veterans.
