Bill Schlichtig

Frank "Bill" Wm Schlichtig, 78, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on June 5, 2026 surrounded by family. He was a cherished father and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Bill spent most of his early life in Havertown, PA. He graduated from Haverford High, and then studied business at Drexel University. In 1969, he enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to the VF-101 detachment at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach. He was trained in Avionic Fundamentals and missile control radar systems and received a letter of recommendation from the commanding officer. Later in life, Bill developed computer hardware and software products to network computers together for many different industries. He eventually started his own company and found many years of success.

Bill enjoyed bowling and has many trophies to prove it. He bowled for the Drexel and Oceana Navy Base bowling teams. He liked to watch football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. He loved going drag racing with his son Bret and spent countless hours working on Bret's race cars. He was a jack-of-all-trades, doing home improvement projects for himself and his two daughters, Tammy and Tara. Bill was also the "go to"guy for any computer or electrical problems.

Bill was the son of the late Frank and Kathryn (Kafka) Schlichtig. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maria Birtwistle Schlichtig, his daughter Tammy Crozier (Colin), son Bret Schlichtig and daughter Tara Schlichtig. He is also survived by his sister Suzanne Gross (Fran). He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Harper, and his brother John Schlichtig.

A memorial donation may be sent in lieu of flowers to any of his three favorite charities: Wounded Warriors, Tunnel to Towers or St. Jude Children Hospital.

A Funeral mass will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Church (1325 Boot Rd, West Chester, PA 19380) on Friday, June 12th at 10:30am. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am.

Interment will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery (1600 Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064).
