December 29, 1939 – September 17, 2025
IN THE CARE OF
Alleva Funeral Home, Inc.
Carol was born in Akron, Ohio to Robert Groves Waddell and Verna Louise Bean on December 29, 1939. She was called home to our Lord on September 17, 2025.
As a girl, Carol loved her majorette doll, playing cards with her Grandmother Bean, eating devil dogs from the city bakery, and placing first in school math contests. During her teen years, she was proud to become a majorette at Garfield High School in Akron, OH and later to become Head Majorette at Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg, PA. She graduated from Central Dauphin and briefly attended Penn State University where she won the Wall Street Journal award for her promise as a business student.
She met and fell in love with her husband Marshall while attending Central Dauphin. Marshall, “a very handsome man,” swept her off her feet. During her first year of college, she and Marshall eloped. They married at a train stop on the way to Mobile, Alabama and were never apart during their 62-year marriage.
Carol later graduated from Shippensburg University with a BS in Business Education & Accounting. She worked briefly as a teacher before joining the Pennsylvania State Government as an Insurance Company Liquidator. She and Marshall eventually moved to Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and worked together to found Fast Print, a quick printing firm, on South 3rd Street in Harrisburg. They operated Fast Print together as a family business for eleven years. After Fast Print’s sale, Carol rejoined the State Government as a Tax Auditor. She and Marshall eventually retired to The Villages, Florida before moving to Paoli Pointe in 2019, and then to Echo Lake (Malvern) in 2024.
Carol loved church, puzzles, board games, candy, and golf. She was proud of her hole-in-ones, and she loved to talk about the stock market. Her warm personality and kindness drew people to her. She was the soul of her family and always worked for everyone’s happiness.
Carol leaves behind two wonderful daughters, Shari Reams-Henofer and Jennifer Mills, and two admired grandchildren, Caitlin Mills and Jack Henofer. She also leaves behind her beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, Jan Durkin (Tom), and Peggy Preis (Jim), to join her recently departed and beloved brother Bob Waddell (Kathy). She leaves behind many treasured nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. May she rest in peace cradled in God’s grace.
A public viewing and visitation will be held at Alleva Funeral Home in Paoli, Pennsylvania on September 25, 2025, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at Westminster Cemetery in Carlisle, PA on September 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carol’s remembrance to the Paoli Presbyterian Church (225 South Valley Road, Paoli, PA 19301), or to DavidJeremiah.org.
