Christina Flood died peacefully at home on Wednesday afternoon surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her parents, Ed and Carolyn and siblings Ed and Lauren whom she loved very much. Her brother and sister looked up to her as a leader and authority on all things important to them. Christina was funny and smart and made her parents and friends laugh with her mischievous and often sharp -witted sense of humor. Christina is also survived by a large, loving family including her grandmother, aunts, uncles and many cousins who have supported her and cheered her on throughout her life.
Christina was a resident of Upper Merion Township. She was an excellent student and dedicated athlete as a swimmer and rower. She went to Duquesne University and continued rowing there. She loved her two big, sloppy dogs, cookie dough ice-cream, Twilight and dancing, vacations with her family and being with her friends.
Christina’s life was unalterably changed after being hit by a car in Rome, Italy in 2010. In spite of insurmountable injuries, Christina continued to amaze her family and therapists with the same fighting spirit that made her such a powerful athlete and student. She worked hard in her many therapies and with her personal trainer at the Fighting Back Program. Christina was a powerful force who inspired her family to work harder with her determination and stamina, especially after her injury. She will be deeply missed by her family, her very dear friends, the nurses who have lovingly cared for her, therapists and many, many people who loved her.
Christina's family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fighting Back Scholarship Program where people with disabilities are given a second chance to regain function, dignity and hope.
