He was born on June 5, 1950, in Saxton, Pennsylvania to the late Clyde Allen and Sylvia Mary (Wannyn) Moffat.
A proud U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Clyde served on the front lines. His steady, capable hands were put to work maintaining the carburetors and generators of large vehicles—practical, demanding work that required discipline, focus, and reliability, carried out in service to others and to country. He received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in the Republic of Vietnam and made private for his work in the conventional and precise power generator course.
Clyde was extremely involved in the American Legion's and the VFW's in Chester County and Sexton, PA, especially VFW Post 5203 in Paoli. He was Post Junior Vice Commander and gave a significant amount of time to the post, events and people.
Clyde found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved. He cherished being with his family and took special delight in his grandchildren, valuing the everyday moments that become, in time, the memories that matter most. He liked to help anyone, if you were in need. He was a very kind man.
In his earlier years, Clyde enjoyed hunting and fishing, drawn to the quiet satisfaction of the outdoors. Year after year, he looked forward to trips to the mountains with family and friends—simple traditions that spoke to his appreciation for companionship and the calm of familiar places. He loved sports, he was the State Tournament Chairman Baseball and loved to play the game. He was a huge fan of the Eagles, Phillies and Villanova Basketball.
He also had a lifelong affection for machines and the stories they carry. Clyde especially loved cars, and he never forgot his first—his Plymouth Roadrunner, his father was with him when he purchased it on his own and they both remembered it with pride. He was equally fond of motorcycles, and loved to ride. At home, he enjoyed music—especially Willie Nelson—and could often be found watching old movies, westerns, COPS and MeTV.
Clyde is survived by his spouse, Deborah "Debbie" Moffat; his children, John Millett II (Jules), Ashley Millett (Chandler), Kimberly Millett, Allen Moffat (Sandra), Michael Moffat, and Kelly Moffat; his grandchildren, John Millett III, Maia Millett, Mason Millett, Levi Becker, Sam Moffat, Makayla Moffat, Colby Moffat; and his brother, Steve Moffat (Debbie).
