Dominick “Joe” Nudy, 95 of Strafford, PA, formerly of Devon, PA passed away October 8th and took his place in heaven. Joe was predeceased by his wife Jean, parents Ida and Dominick, siblings Louis, Fred, Rose and Raymond and his beloved daughter Celeste. He was a loving man survived by children Dominic (Carol), Raymond (Irene), Nicholas (Darlene), Eda (William), Celeste, deceased (Jim), James (Lisa), and Robert. He was blessed with 23 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Pop Pop.
Joe and Jean were married for 64 years. Their marriage was filled with unconditional love that spread to everyone who knew them. They were married in 1956, and moved to Strafford to start their family, build their home and legacy. They both worked tirelessly with their seven children, but they always had time to help others. Joe was always there, without hesitation to help each child when a problem arose. He was a kind and gentle man who lived for his family every day of his life.
Family meant everything to Joe. He was always there to support his children, grand-children and great grand-children, especially on the sidelines of many sporting events, recitals and plays. Joe and Jean’s home soon became home to many gatherings, including Joe’s specialty ‘Pizza Fridays’ where he would make dozens of pizzas to share with his family and friends. Joe and Jean even traveled to Italy together to visit their family and hometown. Their memories together and with their family are unforgettable.
Joe was a successful businessman, and opened luncheonettes in Ardmore, Wayne and Garrett Hill. Since then, not a day went by without Joe making sure you were fed at all times. He loved to cook cheesesteaks, hoagies, pizzas, strombolis and biscotti whenever he had the chance. Joe even had the opportunity to teach his great- grandchildren his pizza making skills. Aside from leaving you full, Joe always left you with a clean joke to make you smile. He was a good man whose generosity, stories and sense of humor will remain legendary. He will be extremely missed by many loved ones, but remembered for generations.
