Donald Mourar Detwiler Sr.

Donald Mourar Detwiler of Wayne, PA died peacefully on March 15, the date of his 96th Birthday. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Silge Detwiler and devoted father of Donald Detwiler Jr and Scott Detwiler, grandfather of Sarah Detwiler and Jonathan Detwiler as well to five adult stepchildren, JoAnn Kennedy Bowers, Patrick Kennedy, Aileen Kennedy Roberts, Carol Kennedy Hearle and Marybeth Kennedy Winstead and step grandpa to their 13 children.

Don was known to his friends and relatives as a superb handyman who often offered his skills with household repairs and various tasks. He played tennis on weekends and exercised a routine of rapid walking in the neighborhood and in local parks and fields.

He was proud to be a Penn State business school graduate and later became a top technician with IBM in Philadelphia. He often told stories about being a pioneer in the early days of computer science when corporate computers filled the wall space of business rooms.

Donald had a full life, was loved and admired for his honesty, helpfulness, and accomplishments. He brought love and liveliness to a gathering and gave advice and support where it was welcomed. A service and burial will be private for his extended family and relatives. A Celebration of his Life will be held in early spring.

May Donald Mourar Detwiler rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord.
