Dorothy (Dottie) Cappelli, long time resident of Wayne, PA ., age 91, passed away on Wednesday, April 7th, 2021 with her family by her side. Dottie was born to Magdalen and George Allan Dunwoody on September 29, 1929 in Malvern, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Saint Agnes High School, in West Chester, PA . Dottie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Mario (2016) and daughter Valerie Anne (1972). She is survived by her loving children, Stephen C. (Henri’), Natalie Innella (Roy), MaryLisa Gregory (Mark) and Mark A. (Lisa), 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Dottie also leaves behind numerous Nieces, Nephews, and her brother- in- law Dante Cappelli. Dottie always thought of Dante like a brother as they were so very close. Dottie loved her family and friends and was truly devoted to all of them. If you ask anyone about Dottie, they would tell you that she always had a smile on her face and welcomed you into her heart, just like family.
In her earlier years, before she married the love of her life on June 23rd, 1950, she was a ballerina with the Philadelphia Ballet Company, and even carried the title of Prima Ballerina. She and Mario both loved dancing and were often seen twirling and dancing together at many social events with their friends and family. She worked for The Bell Telephone Company, along with other jobs throughout her marriage. In her later years, she and Mario became certified travel agents and worked for Cruisin Inc. in Wayne, where they had a great time arranging trips and cruises for their neighbors, family and friends.They also enjoyed their own travels and cruises across the globe. Along with traveling she enjoyed, playing her piano and singing . Since her marriage, Dottie was a very active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Strafford, PA. She was a long standing member of the Choir and served on various parish committees. Along with other side hobbies, including gardening, baking, Dottie’s true devotion was her family and friends. Her welcoming arms and vivacious smile will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Our Lady of the Assumption Church 35 Old Eagle School Road, Strafford, PA, on Wednesday, the 14th of April, 2021, at 10 AM . Interment immediately following.
