Edward P Doyle

Edward was born in 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from St. Augustine High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Villanova University in 1958. It was at Villanova he met and married Joan B. Martin, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years until her passing in 2002.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in the Philippines from 1951 - 1954.

As an electrical engineer for many years he worked for companies including Weston Transicoil in Worcester, PA, Honeywell International, Proctor Silex in Philadelphia, Leeds and Northrup in North Wales and NASJRB Willow Grove in Horsham, PA.

Ed had a lifelong fascination with trains, particularly steam powered and municipal railways. He collected and built model trains especially HO-gauge. Ed was also an avid woodworker, filling his home with many one of a kind crafted furniture pieces. He also loved growing tomatoes and other vegetables. He enjoyed vacationing with his family in Vermont, square dancing, and ice cream (his favorite flavor was pistachio).

Ed is survived by three children - James (Stephanie Guarino) of High Springs, FL; Charles (Jocelyn Holash) of Alameda, CA, and Marianne of Portland, OR, and grandchildren Vincent Doyle, Helen Doyle, and Rebecca Brooks, as well as one great-grandchild, Rowan Doyle. He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Evelyn (Veyer) Doyle, and his sister Florence Fitzgerald.

Ed was an active member of the Daylesford Abbey for many years. While at Lima Estates, he enjoyed helping his fellow residents with their computer and phone problems. Whether it was installing new software or figuring out a bulky desktop, Ed was always there to help smooth the information superhighway for his friends.

A memorial gathering will be Saturday, August 24, 2024 beginning at 12:00 noon, at the Daylesford Abbey, 220 S Valley Rd, Paoli, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:30 pm. Interment of ashes will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, 11050 Pottstown Pike, West Chester, PA.
