George A. Geiger III, “Bud” of Malvern, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024, Surrounded by his family, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. His battle in the last few years showed the resilience and strength he had with facing life challenges.
George was born on October 1, 1945, to George Andrew Geiger Jr and Dorothy Louise Miller of Williamsport, Pa. George was a 1963 graduate of Williamsport High School and went onto study Animal Husbandry at Delaware Valley College. He met his future wife Eileen Steiert in 1966 while working for her father at The Steiert Family Farm, aka “Skyline Farm”, in Valley Forge. He was also employed by A. Steiert and Son Broom Factory, a broom manufacturing company in Hatfield, PA.
He proudly enlisted in the US Army in 1968, stationed in California. George then went on to marry Eileen in June 1969. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in June 2024. They raised 3 incredible sons together in Valley Forge, PA. George spent the next many years working for Philadelphia Electric Company, then employed by Fedex, retiring from both. In order to stay busy after his initial retirement, he spent an additional 10 years working for Finishmaster Inc., which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Those who loved him the most called him “Poppy.” He was a loving grandfather, devoted husband, and proud father. George accompanied his father-in-law, Aloysius Steiert, transporting horses and personal trunks and duffle bags from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire. This introduction to George Munger and Camp Tecumseh paved the way to what became a love of his, as well as his family. George had a special place in his heart for Camp Tecumseh, which created an extended family, memories, and lifelong friendships. His passion and love for Camp Tecumseh have created a multigenerational bond that still continues today.
He was an avid reader of world history and loved a good war book. He enjoyed his cup of coffee with cinnamon and always had a variety of candy in his pocket to share. He was an active member in the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and Lifetime Member of the Valley Forge Fire Company.
George was predeceased by his parents and 2 sons George Andrew IV and Brian Geiger. He is survived by his wife Eileen and his children: Kevin (Debbie), Philip (Lindsay) and Owen (Kristen). Also survived are Poppy’s greatest joy, his grandchildren: Maddie, Liam, Kolbe, Presley, Cameron, PJ, Jackson and Jillian. Also survived by 3 sisters: Johanna Geiger, Virgina Jones and Mary Bastian.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church: 502 Main Street, Phoenixville Pa. 19460. A memorial mass will begin at 11:00 am.
Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery of West Conshohocken: 235 Matsonford Road, Conshohocken, Pa.
