It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gerald William Negrey, affectionately known as Jerry, who left us on August 9, 2025, at the age of 83. Jerry was born on May 25, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, to John Nicholas Negrey Sr. and Edith Theresa Brynes.
He graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School. He continued his education, graduating from St. Joseph College with a degree in economics. His commitment to service led him to the US Navy, where he was stationed in San Francisco. During this time, he began to build his family, welcoming Alicia and Daniel into the world.
After his completion of Active-Duty, Jerry returned to Pennsylvania and embarked on a successful career in sales, working for Sperry/Univac and Digital Equipment Corporation. His professional achievements were numerous, but it was his personal life that brought him the most joy.
One of his accounts was Exxon where he met his love Maryann D’Antonio. In 1984 they married. Jerry was flying for the US Navy Air as a reservist when Maryann decided they should move to Gulph Mills. So while he was flying off to Spain, she bought their house. They spent 40 years of the 41 years of marriage in that house down the hill. In 1988 they welcomed Patrick who along with Tobey their dog brought the house to life. After he retired from sales, he started his new career as stay at home dad devoted to Patrick. He attended PTA’s, took Patrick to zoo camp, little league and they even learned to bake bread together. During this time, he became the family’s stock trader and advisor.
Jerry's passions extended beyond his family. He was an avid golfer, a dedicated gym rat, sports fan, and a true patriot who took pride in his 21 years of military service. His love for travel included Bermuda, Spain, Portugal, Costa Rica, San Diego, Savannah and Charleston. He went along for the 21 years of Disney timeshare vacations but he definitely was not a theme park person. He enjoyed having family time in Disney’s Old Key West Resort and relaxing in the hot tub and golfing on the Disney courses. The last 15 years he enjoyed winter vacations a little farther south. Fort Lauderdale became the winter spot of choice. In Fort Lauderdale he made quite a few good friends.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as taking care of his yard and nurturing his dahlia plants. While gardening, you could hear his other passion – music. His playlists showed a very varied collection of songs and artists.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents John N Negrey Sr and Edith Negrey; sisters Jean Letofsky and Janet Negrey; his ex-wife Elizabeth Velutini Negrey.
Jerry is survived by his wife Maryann; children Alicia (Charles) Peacock, Daniel Negrey, Patrick Negrey; his brother Dr. John N. Negrey Jr and sister-in-law Elizabeth; his extended D’Antonio family and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing and visitation will be held on August 14, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Sajer Hall at Alleva Funeral Home in Paoli, PA, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Mid-Atlantic Society or the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Jerry's legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will forever be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
