Helen A."Connie" Pennington (nee Conway) passed away on April 25, 2021 at the age of 94 peacefully in her Malvern home surrounded by family and supportive caregivers. Connie was born in Bryn Mawr, Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County Pennsylvania on October 2, 1926 to her parents Helen Agnes Kane and Thomas Bernard Conway.
Connie is predeceased by her parents, husband Robert Pennington, and daughter, Mary C."Meg" Zaccaria.
Connie is survived by her brother Thomas Conway and sister-in law Jackie Conway of Drexel Hill,PA , sister Alice Keenan of Bryn Mawr, PA, son Kevin McClatchy and daughter in-law Nancy McClatchy of Wagontown,PA, daughter Kate McClatchy of Merced, California, step daughter Shaun Pennington of St. Thomas Virgin Islands, step son Robert Pennington Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, grandchildren Jackie, James, Dylan and Julian, great grandchildren Phoenix and James, and many nieces and nephews.
Connie was a 1944 graduate of Mater Misericordia Academy in Merion Station, Pennsylvania and graduated from Immaculata College with an English degree.
Connie worked in many different offices, most notably the New Bolton Center Hospital in Kennett Square, University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine known for treating the Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro. She also worked at Malvern Institute, a highly recognized treatment center for substance use disorders.
She had a love for fashion design and created beautiful drawings of women in lovely dresses. Being an avid reader throughout her long life, she never missed the morning paper and enjoyed many fiction works, especially mystery novels. “If you love books, you will never be lonely”, are words of wisdom that she shared. Connie enjoyed completing daily crossword puzzles, and meeting family for lunch after mass on Sundays. Connie was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Malvern, PA. Her endearing sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by many.
A special thank you to all of the wonderful caregivers through Willow Tree Hospice. We could not have asked for a better support team for Connie's final journey to meet our dear lord.
A burial mass was held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Malvern, PA with private family burial at St. Denis Cemetery in Havertown,PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Malvern , PA.
