Jean Elizabeth Carse Alloway, 88, died at her home in Parklane Senior Living in West Chester on April 7, 2013. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mrs. Alloway graduated from John Bartram High School in Southwest Philadelphia, and then went to Drexel Institute of Technology. Jean married Thomas Edward Alloway, her high school sweetheart, on his discharge from the army in January 1946. They had two sons, Thomas Edward, Jr and Richard Charles, who were raised in Springfield, Delaware Co. Mrs. Alloway worked at the Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia, for many years. In retirement, Jean and her husband moved to Briarcliffe Condominiums in Swarthmore, and then the Bellingham and Parklane Senior Living in West Chester.
She will be missed by her six grandchildren who remember her generosity of spirit and support.
Mrs. Alloway is survived by grandchildren, Julie Alloway Garrity, Laurie Alloway, Richard Alloway, Gary Alloway, Stephanie Alloway Reinhart, Thomas Alloway, her daughter-in-laws Cindy Alloway and Fran Alloway and her sons Thomas and Richard.
A memorial service will be held on April 11, 2013 at 10am at Paoli Presbyterian Church, 225 S. Valley Rd., Paoli, PA 19301.
Visitation will be from 9am to 10 am. All services will be in the chapel.
