December 7, 1944 – June 5, 2025
John Brian Clark, known to family and friends as Brian, was born on December 7, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the age of 80. He lived a life defined by warmth, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Brian is survived by his beloved sons, John Brian Clark Jr. and his wife Irina, and James Clark and his wife Angela as well as his five grandchildren who he adored – James, Nick, Alexa, Colin, and Campbell. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Phyllis, with whom he shared a deep love and a passion for travel. Together, they explored the world—always with Phyllis ensuring they found the best deals and made the absolute most of every journey.
Brian was known for his incredible wit and sharp sense of humor—always ready with a one-liner that could bring a smile to anyone’s face. His quick comebacks and clever remarks were a signature part of who he was, and they will be fondly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing him. As an example, he wasn’t one to simply ask for another drink; instead he would say things like “Can I have another? This one had a hole in it.”
He was an impassioned sports fan with a love of all things Philadelphia sports. His beloved Eagles though, were his greatest passion. Fearing he would never get to see them win a Super Bowl, Brian managed to hang on to see two Lombardi Trophies make their way to Broad Street – something that brought him tremendous pride and joy.
A memorial service will be held at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. This will be a private family event.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project to honor veterans who have sacrificed for us all.
