John P. Hartnett Sr.

John Patrick Hartnett, 78, passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2026 surrounded by his family. John was the husband of the late Gail Patricia Hartnett (nee Donnelly). John is survived by his 3 children; Melissa (Donald), John (Cristina) and Kelly, 8 grandchildren; Miranda, Michael, Melody, Jenna, Joseph, John, Alaina and Daniel; and 6 great-grandchildren Dylan, Blake, Oliver, Charles, Marceline and Henry.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is, also, predeceased by his sister Anna Mae and his great-granddaughter Adelina Rose.

John was a long time resident of Philadelphia, Pa. He served on the Philadelphia police force for 29 years. When John was not working, he was spending time with his family. John was a devoted father and pop-pop. His family meant everything to him.

John will be deeply missed by his loved ones. He always had the best one liners and was joking up til his final moments. He was a simple man who enjoyed watching his television shows with his loyal dog Maggie. John never really wanted for much except “finally a nice day.” He sacrificed and gave everything he had to his family and he will be forever missed.

The family will gather privately to celebrate his life.
