Joseph (“Joe”) Walter Hullett passed away peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer with his son and friends by his side on Thursday, June 10, 2021. Joe left this life just as he lived it, with grace and dignity.
Joe was the husband of the late Sandy E. McVoy Hullett, the love of his life. Joe was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan E Hullett and is survived by his son, J.K. Hullett, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Hullett, and their three children who he cherished dearly, Jackson Hullett, Jordan Hullett, and Jillian Hullett. Joe is also survived by his brother, Jay Hullett, his wife, Eileen Hullett and their daughter Frances Hullett.
Joe was born in Evanston, Illinois the son of James Calvin Hullett and Patricia O’Sullivan Hullett. Joe grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from Hackley High School in New York. He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. After leaving college, Joe worked in London as a reinsurance broker with Lloyds’ of London before returning to the Philadelphia area where he took a similar position with Towers, Perrin, Foster and Crosby (TPF&C). Joe had a successful and distinguished career at TPF&C, becoming one of its youngest senior executives. Joe later left TPF&C to embark on a successful consulting career.
In 1985, Joe married Sandy, who was from Dallas, Texas. He moved Sandy and her son, John Cornell, to Berwyn, Pennsylvania where Joe resided since 1965. Joe was a member of Waynesborough Country Club and was actively involved in golf and all the clubs’ various activities.
Joe was a warm, sincere and caring person who developed many close friendships. He had a zest for life, loved connecting with people and positively influenced those who were connected to him. Joe was a champion of the underdog, and his generosity was boundless. If he wasn’t playing golf, he would be tending his garden or cheering on his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. He will be truly missed by many.
There will be a service (preceded by a private burial) for relatives and friends at St. David’s Episcopal Church (763 Valley Forge Rd. Wayne, PA 19087) on Saturday July 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM. A luncheon reception open to all will be held at Waynesborough Country Club (446 Darby-Paoli Rd., PA 19301) following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family would be most grateful for donations to the American Cancer Society in honor of Joseph Hullett.
