Joseph P. Orsatti, Jr., known as Skip to friends and family, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Skip was born in Bryn Mawr, PA and was a long-time resident of Wayne, PA. Skip was the son of the late Joseph P. Orsatti, Sr. and the late Mildred Orsatti (nee Verna), brother to Robert Orsatti (Mary Lew) of Penn Wynne, PA and the late Charles Orsatti (Denise) of Belleair, FL, the loving father of Linda Orsatti-Wiker (Bob) of Cape May, NJ, Father-In-Law to the late Thomas G, Wiker, Sr., and Joseph P. Orsatti, III (Jayda) of Phoenixville, PA, the proud grandfather of Thomas G. Wiker Jr. (Julie) of Media, PA, Joseph P. Orsatti, IV, Jadelyn Orsatti and Jared W. Orsatti of Phoenixville, PA. Skip is also survived by his nephews Robert Orsatti, Jr., (Verna), Laurie Orsatti-Bogutz (Marc), the late Gregory Orsatti, Chad T. Orsatti (Theresa) and Blair A. Orsatti (Jenny) and their children Stefani, Jessica, Chad Jr., Averi and Ashlyn.
Our father’s life was enriched infinitely more given the love and care provided by his longtime companion Patricia O’Connor of West Chester, PA, her daughters Dottie, Allison, Chrissy and Chad and their incredible families.
Skip was a proud graduate of Radnor High School and equally honored to have earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from Penn State University. Skip attended the University of Pennsylvania to pursue graduate studies in Landscape Architecture and Land Planning. He started in industry working for the prestigious firms of Vincent Kling Architects and Day & Zimmerman before venturing into private practice, which was his dream. His first business was a partnership venture called Environmental Design Collaborative (EDC). During the 1970’s, Skip had the distinct honor of being appointed to the Philadelphia Art Commission. His hard work and determination culminated when he started his own firm in 1979 called Orsatti & Associates. Orsatti & Associates (currently Stuart & Associates) is located in King of Prussia, PA and provides Land Planning, Landscape Design, Site Analysis, Land Development Feasibility Studies and Graphic Design. His work included all phases of development for office and industrial parks, residential development (both single and multi-family projects), park and recreational areas, commercial, institutional and civic projects. Over the years, his firm won numerous awards for excellence in design, including seven Planning Merit Awards given by the Montgomery Planning Commission, the 1986 State-Wide Commercial Landscape Award of Excellence, given by the Nurserymen’s Association and other awards given by various townships, community organizations and civic groups. The work performed by Skip and his team was instrumental for numerous projects throughout the area including Chesterbrook, Great Valley Corporate Center and Renaissance Corporate Park to name just a few.
Skip was passionate about his profession, working tirelessly to hone his skills and grow his business. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Skip’s love for his children, grandchildren, nephews and their children had no bounds. He enjoyed reading, working in his yard, constantly taking on projects at his home (and the homes of almost every family member listed above) vacationing in Cape May and traveling to Italy. He was a dog whisperer with Zeke at the top of his list of favorite pets followed by Miles, and Shep and countless other loyal companions over the years. He loved his cars and if you blinked you may have missed him passing you on Route 202 or on his way to Wawa or Minella’s in Wayne. Skip enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake and took his love for boating and the sea further when he fulfilled a bucket list item and joined the crew of the USS Boise (SSN-764), a Los Angeles-class submarine on an excursion from Norfolk Naval Station to Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. It was an opportunity of a blessed lifetime and a memory he cherished. Our father, brother, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, partner and friend was loving, caring, funny, smart, charming, talented, proud, determined, focused and incredibly generous. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and left this world a much better place than it was before he joined it.
Relatives and friends are invited to Our Lady of the Assumption Church located at 35 Old Eagle School Road, Wayne, PA 19087 on Friday, February 28, 2025, where his viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., with his Funeral Mass commencing at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Skip has requested Memorial Donations in his name to be made to the ASPCA (www.ASPCA.org).
