Passed away peacefully December 14, 2021 at age 95. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joan (nee Root), sons Karl III (Bonnie), John, daughter Malea Scardellette, (Frederick), grandson Karl IV, grand daughters Kari Carfagno (Anthony), Courtney Dill (Patrick), Kristen Cornforth (Bradley), great-grand daughters Adlley Carfagno and Clare Dill.
Karl grew up in Drexel Hill and lived in the Paoli/Berwyn area since 1950. He was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and St. Josephs University. He was an advertising and marketing communications executive for many Philadelphia agencies until founding Resort Marketers, Inc. in 1981 – a Creative and Marketing Communications firm specializing in the resort travel and hospitality industries with long term clients throughout the US and the Caribbean, including The Greenbrier (WV), The Breakers (FL), Callaway Gardens, (GA) Round Hill (Montego Bay, Jamaica) and Carambola (St. Croix, USVI)
In 1993 Karl was elected President of the Chester County Tourist Bureau and served for 3 years, and developed interest in its history of covered bridges. This and his long love and study of fine art led to his painting the 15 remaining covered bridges and publishing a book for the Tourist Bureau to use in promoting travel in the County.
Upon his retirement in 1995 he devoted much of his time to his fine art, exhibiting and participating in juried art shows, sailing the bays and shorelines in and around Avalon, NJ, golfing with his group of friends and colleagues known as the “Paoli Forecallers” and most especially enjoying time with his close family as well as his many loving nieces and nephews.
On Monday, 12/20/2021 there will be a visitation from 10–11AM, followed by Mass at 11AM at St. Norbert Church (50 Leopard Rd, Paoli, PA 19301). In lieu of flowers, make a donation to the charity of your choice.
