Kathryn L. Ashbridge, 67, a resident of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 19th, 2026, due to complications from lupus. Born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1958, Kathryn devoted her life to the work of education and to offering unwavering support to her family, meeting each day with a warm spirit and a fantastic sense of humor that left a lasting mark on those who knew her.
Kathryn received degrees from La Salle University and Arcadia University, building a foundation for a career defined by service and compassion. She began her career in education as a Special Education teacher in the Southeast Delco School District, where her patience and warmth helped students feel seen and supported. She later served as an educational administrator in Upper Merion Area School District and went on to become an administrator in several school districts in both NJ and PA—roles she carried with her dynamic personality and a consistent commitment to the well-being of others. It is all the more remarkable that she achieved these career highs while also fighting a long, personal battle with lupus.
Kathryn was married to her husband Robert for 44 years. Theirs was a partnership rooted in devotion and enduring love. The two met as twentysomethings when they both worked at a camp for blind students. Their shared passion for helping children with special needs built a strong partnership that led to three children and many happy years together.
Kathryn is survived by her husband, Robert D. Ashbridge, Sr.; her daughters, Sarah Ashbridge and Megan Yeager Ashbridge (Robert Yeager); her son, Robert Ashbridge, Jr. (Tiffany Ramiro-Ashbridge); and her grandchildren, Charles Yeager and Violet Yeager. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah "Sally" (Heston) Hillmann; her father, William Hillmann; her brother, Craig Hillmann; and her grandparents, Lois & Gordon Evans.
Visitation will be held at Alleva Funeral Home, Inc., 1724 East Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA 19301, on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Cremation services will then occur privately. A celebration of life for Kathryn will be held at a later date (as yet still undetermined). In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Lupus Foundation of America in Kathryn’s name.
