

Loretta J. Brown, 93, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025. Born on November 29, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a longtime resident of Broomall, Pennsylvania, where she and her beloved husband, Alfred B. Brown, raised their family. For the past four decades, she made her home in Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania.
Loretta was preceded in death by her loving parents, Anna K. and John Mitropoulos James, and by Alfred, the love of her life, with whom she shared many devoted years before his passing.
Loretta lived a full and vibrant life. As a child, she enjoyed playing the piano and loved to sing. As her children grew older, she returned to work as an Executive Secretary, contributing her talents to several organizations including a real estate firm, Haverford College, Adelphia Cinema, Ent, and Sherwin-Williams. In her later years, Loretta embraced adventure and new experiences. She found joy in travel, including favorite trips to Williamsburg, Virginia, and a memorable camel ride in Egypt in her 80s with a dear friend. She spent many years playing Bridge with friends and always approached the table with a friendly competitiveness.
Deeply social and community-minded, Loretta was a proud member of the Broomall Women's Club and the Great Valley Women's Club, where she served on many committees and held various leadership roles, including President.
In her later years, Loretta cherished spending time with her family and staying connected through her iPad. She enjoyed challenging herself with games, interacting with shared albums of her great grandchildren, researching her Greek Heritage on Ancestry and keeping in touch with family and friends near and far on social media.
Loretta is lovingly survived by her daughter, Carolyn "Carole" (Bill) Staats and her son, Kevin Brown. She leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Cynthia (Jared) Treichler, Anthony Brown (Ashley Ramirez), Kyle (Nicole) Staats, Casey (Danielle) Staats, and Corey Staats (Brooke Norton), and was blessed with two great granddaughters, Ava and Mia Treichler. In addition, Loretta is survived by her brother, John Edward James, and his children.
A funeral service for Loretta will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at St. Peter's Church in the Great Valley (2475 St. Peter's Road, Malvern, Pennsylvania 19355). A visitation will begin at 10:30am with the service to begin at 11:00am. Burial and a luncheon to follow at the church for all to attend.
