Lorraine Ann Nackord (Vilary) RN, 70, of Malvern, PA passed at 6pm on April 19th, 2018. Born December 1st, 1947 in Cherry Hill, NJ to Eugene and Lenore Vilary. Oldest of seven children, she naturally became a caregiver at an early age. Attended Camden Catholic High School and received her nursing degree from the prestigious Philadelphia General Hospital. While at PGH the beautiful Lorraine reigned as Miss Christmas Seal of Delaware Valley raising money for the detection and treatment of tuberculosis. Early in her career she worked at the University of Penn Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Then went on to private practice and worked for 30 years as a head pediatric nurse bringing comfort to thousands of children and parents.
Beloved wife for 47 years of Dennis J. Nackord. Loving mother of Amy A. Bedner (Alan J.), Jessica A. Nackord, Elizabeth A. Lees (Michael T.) and Dennis Jason Nackord (Laci A.). Dear sister of Michael Vilary (Sonny), Karen Cioll (Rich), Maureen Abdill (Bruce Bobbitt), Sandy Denham (Jim Schwarz), Judy Krankowski (Ron), and the late Paul Vilary (Jeannie). Nana of Ashley, Sydney, Penelope, Brian, Gavin, Caroline, Adma, Maxwell, Lorel, Rowan and the late Baby Katey. Also survived by dear Aunt Lauretta Kunkel, sister in law Suzanne Liewer, best friend Nancy Schreiber and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her deepest passion was caring for her children and grandchildren. With her strong pediatric background she was a source of guidance to her children and many of their friends when they became parents themselves. Available 24/7 to counsel on care of a any ailment. She was never off duty and never wanted to be.
Lorraine was intelligent, educated, classy, compassionate, confident, capable and a complete hazard on the road. Always put together with nails done wearing a light, crisp scent. She loved cooking, baking and hosting and entertaining family and friends. She was famous for her Apple Pie and Potato Salad. She loved her family and made family with everyone she met. Traditions, rituals and making times and memories special were what she lived for. Raine loved to read book after book and even loved to write. A jersey girl, she loved the shore and lived to bury her feet in the sand. Chocolate cake, potato chips, diet decaf iced tea and lots of white cotton. Everything cotton. She graduated from Immaculata University with an Associate of Arts degree at the age of 68. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at the West Chester Food Cupboard. A graceful force to be reckoned with, she remained a source of loving comfort to her family until her final days.
If there was ever an angel on earth, it was Lorraine. Steady in her values both to herself and to her offspring, she set an example of kindness that will remain unmatched. Her legacy is one of tender love for all those who came in contact with her and as a nurse we are certain she went directly to heaven upon her passing.
Services will be Saturday April 28 at Alleva Funeral Home, 1724 E. Lancaster Ave. Paoli PA 19301. Visitation will be from 9am to 11am. A memorial service celebrating her life will be at 11am.
