Born April 15, 1925 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, Lunetta was the daughter of the late William R. and Olive Zug Forsyth. Lunetta spent her childhood splitting her time between her home in Conshohocken and her mother’s family farm “Woodstock”, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Lunetta attended Wilson College in Chambersburg, graduating in 1947 with a B.A. in English. She married William K. Headley of Washington, Pennsylvania in 1948. They moved to Wayne and Lunetta worked in the library of Haverford College. They later moved to Gulph Mills and their daughter Lisa was born in 1955.
In 1956, Lunetta was one of the founding members of the Valley Forge branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The Valley Forge branch continues to be active to this day and works to help achieve the AAUW mission statement of “advanc(ing) equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.”
In 1957, Lunetta moved to Villanova where she and her family lived for many years. They were active members of Christ Church Ithan in Villanova. Lunetta returned to library work around 1966; doing occasional work at the library of Lankenau Hospital. She later returned to full time library work as the director of the Curriculum Lab at Eastern College in the early 1970s. Lunetta attended Villanova University and obtained a Master’s degree in Library Science in 1975. She continued her library career at Rosemont College and the Agnes Irwin School.
She spent her later years working as a librarian at the library at Bryn Mawr Hospital (as well as Paoli and Lankenau Hospitals) after she and her husband moved to Paoli in 1986. Throughout her life, Lunetta continued to be an active member of the AAUW, where she was co-president from 2001-2003, and her Wilson College Alumni club, and at Christ Church Ithan.
Lunetta moved to Dunwoody Village in 2017, and was an active part of the community there, working in both their library and gift shop. She was loved by the staff on the Woodlea wing, where she lived for the last two years of her life. Lunetta was a shining light in the world, and was well-known for her sunny and cheerful nature.
Lunetta was preceded in death by her husband William Headley, who died in 2011. They had been married for 63 years. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Guglielmino, son-in-law Richard Guglielmino, and grandchildren Nicholas, Chelsea, Kenneth and Angela Guglielmino. She is also survived by sisters Jane Messimer and Martha Minter, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Lunetta’s life will be held on August 23 at 11:00 am, at Christ Church Ithan in Villanova. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lunetta’s memory to the AAUW Education and Training for Women Fund.
