It was through her I learned that love is with your whole heart. Her light did not only shine on those of us blessed enough to be close to her. Her light radiated outward in all directions because she knew that everyone has inherent value. 

She wasn't just good, she was a source of goodness. She taught me what it means to be a citizen, a friend, a helper, and a hero.  The world is no darker without her, however, because knowing her made us all shine brighter. 

I love you Grandmother.

I’m lucky that I got to know my grandmother as an adult.  She always inspired my dreams, and to her there was nothing that her grandchildren couldn’t accomplish.  I will always hold onto that and aim to inspire others.  I love you.  

I have many wonderful memories of Aunt Margaret- a person just as beautiful inside as out! She was so humble and generous with her talents. We were all amazed one person was SO good at so many things. 
She often surprised the Smith Sisters with beautiful homemade gifts they treasured. Re had a drawer with aprons made by Margaret- too pretty to use! 
She repurposed our Mom, Adele's wedding dress into a wedding dress for our Shirley Temple doll. It is something I still treasure!
Besides all her artistic talents- she was a  person of faith and dedication. The Sister she worked with at Archbishop Carroll High School Guidance department told me that Margaret "just knew" what had to be done for the students and did it joyfully!
Her spirit was so special! 
My heartfelt sympathy goes to Patty, John, Stephen and all the Smith's, McGettigan's and  others  whose lives are  richer by knowing Margaret!  Rest in peace, Aunt

So sorry to hear of Aunt Margaret’s passing.  She was a sweet woman who touched so many.  She will be greatly missed.  I have fond memories of her.   You are all in my thoughts & prayers.

What did she see in the smoke from her birthday candle? I see an Angel. This was in 2019. Seems like yesterday. 

After I met Margaret, I wanted everyone to meet her, or at least know about her. Alas, I was unsuccessful in introducing her to any of my friends, but several people always asked about her. When I learned she went Home on Friday, instantly, I received text messages and phone call from friends expressing their condolences and  sadness. 

My mother’s name was Margaret. I called Margaret Mary Smith, “good Margaret”… my mother was , “the other Margaret.” The more I got to know good Margaret, it became crystal clear to me that making peace with my mother was essential. Good Margaret was an inspiration in countless ways. My mother passed peacefully last May, and the previous six months made up for too many years of wishing I had a different mother. 

Yes, good Margaret, you will be missed. We were gal pals and could talk and laugh for hours! Closing my eyes, I see and feel countless precious memories, you set an example to live by. You are eternally in my heart. Grateful for our cherished friendship. 


I've had the pleasure of knowing Margaret since I was in high school. A Witness to her impact in the world.
Her spirit lives on in the people she guided and touched. I came to know her better in her final days. The love she had for family and friends never wavered.
My life is richer for her having been with us.
