Margaret N. Sohmer

She was a longtime resident of Devon, more recently of Audubon PA. Peggy was born on December 22, 1937 in Covington, KY to parents Herman and Ruth Nieberding. She graduated from Mother of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, OH in 1955. She continued her education at the Good Samaritan School of Nursing, graduating in 1958.

After graduation from nursing school, Peggy married Jerry Sohmer in April 1959, immediately after which they moved from Cincinnati to Seattle WA to establish Jerry’s career. They later moved to Orange CA, ultimately settling in Devon PA.

Peggy was a loving stay at home mother for many years, then returned to the workforce as an intensive care nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Norristown, PA. She retired in 1988.

She was a member of St. Monica’s church for over 50 years, and was a volunteer for many church programs and civic organizations. In her later years as a resident of Shannondell in Audubon, she enjoyed participating in several book clubs, a writing club, numerous exercise programs, and volunteered as a greeter for new residents.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Ruth Nieberding, her siblings Mary Ruth Gaskill, James Nieberding, Paul Nieberding and Joyce Koch, and her beloved husband of 38 years, Jerry Sohmer.

She is survived by her children Laura Eppinger (Bruce), Michael Sohmer (Debbie) and Linda Nirmaier (Bill), seven adoring grandchildren, Nick, Grace, Annie, Maggie, Matt, Carl and Mark.

A visitation is scheduled for 10am Monday, December 29, 2025 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, (63 Main Ave, Berwyn, PA). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am. Interment will be private.
