Mary Jane Tanner

Mary JaneTanner, beloved mother of Chuck, Kevin, Jane Ellen and Mary Beth, passed awayon Friday, January 4, 2013. Mrs. Tanner was a Navy wife, mother, musicianand philanthropist. Mrs. Tanner was the devoted wife of the Late CaptainCharles S. Tanner, Sr. for 33 years. She was a graduate of the JulliardSchool of Music and toured with the Concert Division of the USO duringWWII. She was a 55 year member of the PEO Sisterhood and a pastPresident of the Pennsylvania PEO State Chapter. Over her long membershipin PEO, Mrs. Tanner raised thousands of dollars for PEO's educational projectsby knitting Christmas stockings and hosting her local chapter's garage sale for27 years. She is survived by four children, 10 grand children and 11great grand children. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January19th, at 11:00 am at the retirement community, Granite FarmsEstates, in which Mrs. Tanner lived.
