Patricia G. Root

Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Patricia was a lifelong resident of Wayne, PA. She dedicated over three decades of her professional life as the Purchasing Director at Eastern University, where she was respected for her integrity, dedication, and steady leadership.

Patricia was a devoted mother to Jennifer Root Fleury and James Root, a proud and loving grandmother to Timothy Fleury, Kyle Root, and Taylor Root. She was a loving mother-in-law to Erin Cuddy Root and future mother-in-law to Drew Richards. She was the cherished sister of Barbara McDonnell and a beloved aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember her humor, strength, and enduring love for family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, P. Thomas Gallagher and Jean M. Gallagher; her brother, Thomas Gallagher; her nephew and Godson, Gary Gallagher; and her brother-in-law, Richard McDonnell.

Patricia will be remembered for her lifelong commitment to her children and her incredibly close family, her strength, and the deep connections she nurtured throughout her life. Known as “Peeps” to those close to her, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She found great joy in flowers and tending to her garden. Family gatherings and holidays—especially time spent at Jen and Jim’s homes—were deeply special to her. Frequent lunch dates with her high school girlfriends and time spent with her lifelong best friend, Jean Klos, meant the world to her. She cherished her sister Barbara; together, they faced life’s challenges side by side.

Peeps will be greatly missed and forever treasured by those who knew and loved her.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 22, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine of Siena, 104 S Aberdeen Ave, Wayne, PA 19087. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will be held immediately following the Mass.
