Philip Joseph Guenzer VI

Philip Joseph Guenzer VI of Wayne PA, president of Alchemy Development, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the age of 51. He was the son of Nancy Werner Craig (Dwight) of Orchard Park, NY and the late Philip Joseph Guenzer V, the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. Blake Werner and the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip Joseph Guenzer IV, and the brother of the late Kurt Werner Guenzer. Phil is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Susan Guenzer and his beautiful and beloved daughters Grace Lee Guenzer and Claire Margaret Guenzer of Malvern, PA, his sisters and brother Margaret Anne Guenzer of Baltimore, MD, Sarah Guenzer Bradshaw (James) of Nashville, TN, Christine Guenzer Ruda (Andrew) of Atlanta, GA, and Andrew August Guenzer of San Francisco, CA; his adoring nieces and nephews James Campbell Bradshaw IV of Ithaca, NY; Alexandra Aaron Ruda of Tuscaloosa, AL; Joseph Werner Bradshaw of Nashville, TN; and Samuel Ruda of Atlanta, GA; and scores of close friends across the world. Originally from Severna Park and Elkton, MD, Phil earned his B.S. at Bucknell University where he played football before graduating to ultimate frisbee. He later received his MBA from Penn State and his ME from Villanova. He was a fixture for over 25 years in the environmental business in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area. Phil was an avid mountain biker, triathlete, and outdoorsman who was training for his second IronMan when diagnosed with cancer last fall. Along with his biking group, he was an active supporter of Kase's Corner, a charity which fights juvenile diabetes. His devastated buddies offered a tribute including the following, inspired by their celebration in his memory over Phil's beverages of choice.

Phil Guenzer was a man like many who has been a husband, father, friend, and businessman. He was multi-faceted and complex like all of us in today's world. What set Phil apart was that whether he was handling the challenge of marriage, parenthood, friendships, business, or just directions with a group, he brought humor to the moment.

Phil challenged himself throughout life. From starting a family and a business, to becoming an athlete in different sports, he was always willing to take on any challenge. He made friends through his activities and it is in those moments that many of us came to know him

Phil was a companion in our adventures because only so many people are willing to tackle the challenges we set up for ourselves. We bonded over our similarities and got to know each other and ourselves better through our differences. Losing Phil is a loss for us all. His was one unique voice now gone that can never be replaced. We will always carry memories of him with us and hope we can be loved also for what we give to others on this journey through life. Thank you Phil.

Services will be held on Tuesday, May 3 at The Philander Chase Knox Estate, Library Lane, Malvern, PA with visitation at 1:00 p.m., Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m., and a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to honor Phil do so with a gift in his memory to Bucknell University or Kase's Corner. Arrangements are with Alleva Funeral Home, Inc., Paoli, PA.
