1943-2010
Robert (Bob) Wayne Monday, born July 26, 1943, passed away on February 10, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Bob has been a resident of the Philadelphia suburbs for the last 25 years, where he spread his passion, welcoming heart and caring spirit throughout all his professional and personal experiences.
Bob had a passion for life that showed from the twinkle in his bright blue eyes to the way he embraced every opportunity to help others who might need an extra hand or a good hot meal. As a professional independent contractor, Bob helped others build their dream. He had ideas and visions that helped others create a home that perfectly suited the owner. His passion for getting it right the first time was evident in his demand for never cutting corners and finishing the job as promised.
His greatest passion was for his family, friends, children and the church. As a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years, “Mr. Monday” brought joy to the children in his class; he made them laugh, gave them hugs and let them know they were great! As they grew up in the church they learned by example as they always saw Bob in the center of the action at every church event. He brought his passion to making a difference in the lives of the children just as he did for his own family.
Bob will always be remembered most for his gift and his passion for cooking – and cooking BIG! Cooking for 600 families at Christmas, grilling for 250 at the summer church picnic, or roasting his favorite pulled pork for 100 guests for a graduation party – Bob shared his love of good food with his friends and with strangers. Bob and his wife Lori loved helping people in need. With Bob as the ‘head chef’, the Monday family organized thousands of meals for the church family and for needy families. Bob touched lives and warmed hearts and souls through his love of preparing and sharing delicious food. There was nothing that a big plate of hand rolled meatballs could not cure!
Bob is survived by his loving wife Lorrell (Krug) Monday, daughters Brittany and Ashley and best pals Bennett and Cosmo, as well as sisters Sharon and Margaret of Johnstown, PA; Terri Hautz of Ohio, and brothers Richard and Timothy of Houston, TX and Horsham, PA respectively.
