Rose, age 89, lifelong resident of Devon and founder of ANRO Printing, died peacefully on February 24th at Devon Manor, after a long battle with cancer. She was pre-deceased by her husband Angelo in 2010 and is survived by her sister Mary Pomante and many nieces and nephews.
The daughter of Joseph and Marianna (Marcozzi) Spinelli, first generation immigrants from Italy, Rose graduated from Tredyffrin-Easttown High School in 1941 and married Angelo Rossi in 1942. Rose and her late husband Ange, founded ANRO in 1953, out of their home in Devon. They chose to name their fledgling company ANRO, using the first two letters of both of their names. With an equipment list composed of a single Remington Rand typewriter, Rose provided secretarial services for professionals and small businesses in the area. As word of mouth spread, the business rapidly grew.
As new customers led to new employees, the business soon outgrew their home. In 1956 ANRO moved to its own building at 237 Lancaster Avenue and then as the business continued to grow in the late 60’s, it moved across the street to a much larger building. As requests for increasingly sophisticated printing, mailing and other value-added services were fielded, the necessary equipment and people were added to meet the need. New buildings were added in the 70’s and 80’s until ANRO outgrew the space in Devon. In 2009, ANRO moved again, to a new headquarters on Rt. 202 in West Chester. ANRO has now grown to be one of the top 150 largest printing companies in North America and Rose remained active in the company until her death.
Rose enjoyed ballroom dancing with Ange, renovating old homes and gardening but most of all, she enjoyed working. Over the years, Rose and Ange were honored with many awards for their involvement in and dedication to the local community. They also committed both personal and company resources to assist many charities and organizations throughout the Delaware Valley.
