

Samuel E. Cobb, 98, of West Chester, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 17, 2014. Samuel was the husband of the late Erna (nee Schweitzer) Cobb. A natural athlete, Sam was recognized from a young age when he received an excellence in baseball award in high school. He went on to serve as pitcher for the Philadelphia A’s farm team, and received personal recognition from Connie Mack who was quoted as saying, “Sam had the best curveball he had ever seen”. Sam devoted his life to his family, along with his other two loves: painting and sports; especially the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 0806 and Steamfitters Local 420. Surviving are 3 children: Barbara Ventresca, Diane (the late Carmen) DiGiovanni & Richard H. Cobb and 6 grandchildren: Diane, Leslie, Richard, Jennifer, Steven and Jill. Relatives and friends may call on Tues. Sept. 23, 2014 from 7-9PM at Alleva Funeral Home, Inc.: 1724 E. Lancaster Ave. Paoli, PA. Burial will be private by the request of the family.
