Thomas Calvin Pillion Jr.

Thomas C. Pillion, Jr., born April 9, 1934, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and a respected member of the commercial real estate community in Philadelphia and its suburbs.

Tom was the son of Thomas C. Pillion and Sarah Heymann Pillion. He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Pillion, and his sister, Laura Lee Power. For 57 years, he was married to his childhood sweetheart, Patricia L. Pillion, who passed in 2013.

Tom was the proud father of four sons: Thomas C. Pillion III, married to Bonnie Buckley; Michael L. Pillion, married to Sally Pillion; Leith Andrew Pillion, married to Elba Pillion; and Robert Wallace Pillion. He was also a grandfather to 14 grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren, with more on the way.

For more than 60 years, Tom devoted himself to commercial real estate, specializing in leasing and property management. After beginning his career with Albert M. Greenfield & Company, he became a respected leader at Herbert Yentis & Company for more than 40 years. His longevity in the business reflected not only his knowledge and dedication, but also the relationships he built throughout his career. His core team at Yentis worked closely together for his entire career there.

Tom’s life was filled by much more than his work. He loved his family and friends. His personality had just the right mix of warmth, humor and useful insights and advice. He was loyal and his friendships long-lasting. Tom was an unofficial advocate for left-handed people. He could have hit the jack-pot had he followed-through on his idea for scissors specially designed for lefties; his original concept well before they hit the market.

Tom had a deep compassion for all animals and a special love for dogs. Over the years he owned many, from his first black Standard Poodle to Deuce, his French Bulldog at the end. He was the “mayor of dogs,” both on Ivycroft Road and at the Harford dog park, elected by a land-side after bribing them with the biscuits that were always in his pockets. He had just one cat, “Kitty,” who was drawn to Tom and switched family households to live with him.

Tom also loved Jamaica for its beauty as well as its people. Pat and he were part owners of “Blue House” in Oracabessa, Jamaica, for many years, and the island held a special place in their hearts.

His long life was filled with family, friendships, work, travel, dogs, cars, and countless stories that will be remembered and retold by the people who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed by his sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends whose lives he touched over the course of his remarkable 92 years.

A funeral service for Tom will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 763 S. Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA 19087.
