

Thomas "Tommy" Johnson, son of the late Thomas Rogers and Lucinda Smalls Johnson transition from this life peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the age of 83. He was born June 4, 1934 in Augusta, Georgia and had been a resident of Chester, Pennsylvania for many years. He was a proud man who served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War as a private first class. Tommy was employed as a masonry construction worker for the Local 413 Union in Chester, PA for over 40 years and finally retired in 1999. On April 4, 2003, Tommy married Carmen Burton in Wilmington, Delaware. In addition to being a hard worker, he was also a loving husband, a supportive father and grandfather, a “cool” uncle an excellent cook, a strategic pinochle card player, not to mention a very stylish dresser. Tommy’s loving kindness will be missed by his family and friends. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cathrine “CAT” Johnson; son, Harold Queen; daughter, Marcella Bacon; and three grandchildren, Thomas Barnes, Darrell Bacon and Altamesa Bacon. He leaves to cherish his memory, his caring wife of 14 years, Carmen Johnson of Chester, PA; daughter, Patrice Johnson Barnes of Wilmington, DE; stepdaughter, Mahogany Burke of Chester, PA; an aunt, Daisy; nephew, Todd Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, his extended family and friends.
