Virginia Irene (Newsome) Brosius was born on November 13, 1944 to Harold and Betty Newsome. She passed peacefully in her sleep on November 23rd, 2023, Thanksgiving Day. Gini was a compassionate force of nature and an unwavering champion and advocate for family and friends. She will be remembered for her deep love of family, theater, horses, cooking, gardening and her pioneering contributions to the consumer computer and software sales industry. Gini was the north star for many family members and loved hosting holiday parties and enjoyed having the younger relatives stay over at her and her husband Newt’s bucolic horse farm in Avondale, PA to learn to ride horses, enjoy carriage rides with Newt and help tend her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. The roots she helped others to grow reflect her powerful spirit and deep commitment to family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and colleagues, along with a recipe for homemade scones that will quite simply inject anyone who eats them with pure joy.
Gini's love for the theater was evident to all who knew her. From a young age, she was captivated by the magic of the stage, and her enthusiasm for the performing arts only grew stronger with time. Whether she was supporting local productions as a director/producer or participating in community theater (her performance as Raggedy Ann will long be remembered), Gini's dedication to the arts was truly inspiring.
Beyond the theater, Gini along with her husband Newt had a deep affection for horses. She found solace and joy in the presence of these magnificent creatures and embraced the equestrian world with a fervor that touched the lives of many. Her grace and care were matched only by her boundless adoration for these noble animals.
In addition to her artistic and equestrian pursuits, Gini made significant contributions to the early consumer computer and software sales market. Her innovative spirit and keen business acumen left an indelible mark on the ever-evolving landscape of technology. If you bought a personal computer in the early 1980’s on the Main Line outside of Philadelphia, there’s a good chance Gini and her team played a part.
Later in life Gini and Newt, their horses and their beloved dog Max moved to Whitingham, Vermont where they purchased an old farmhouse on fifty acres and opened an award winning bed and breakfast filled with big country breakfasts, beautiful antique furnishings and lots of joy. There they loved the seasons, entertaining, book clubs, carriage and sleigh rides and the wonderful small town community. It was here that her scones were perfected and more family memories were made. Newt and Gini eventually returned to PA for a second act, but later came back to VT for an encore performance.
Gini will be deeply missed by her loving family, including her college sweetheart-turned-husband Newt Brosius, sons Jeffrey and Brian Feller, Chris Brosius, Matt and Joe D’Antonio, and sisters Cathy Roberts and Joyce Cocchi, and her later-in-life world-traveling dog Molly. Gini’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering passion for the things she held dear will continue to inspire all those who loved her and whose lives she touched. A celebration of Gini's life will be held at London Grove Friends Meeting House on Saturday, December 2nd at 11AM, followed by a reception at the Kennett Square Country Club from 12:30PM to 3:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Vermont Theater Company (https://www.vermonttheatrecompany.org/), The Actors Playhouse (https://atplayhouse.org/ ), or The Forgotten Dog Foundation (https://theforgottendog.org/) in Gini's honor.
