

Wharton Jesse Hirst, 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 after a long battle with kidney disease. He enjoyed his whole life living in Springfield, PA. He was born on December 6, 1952 to Wharton M. and Katharine J. (Paschal) Hirst.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 1970 and from Delaware Valley College with a BS in Chemistry in 1974. Wharton worked as a chemist at Atlantic Metals and later for Lehigh Hanson, Inc. He was a member of the American Chemistry Society and the National Wildlife Federation. He enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore and long walks on the beach.
Wharton was preceded in death by his parents and by his cousin Dianne Pechka.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister Katharine Elizabeth (Earl) Brown, his nephews Joshua David Brown and his wife Rene, Justin Daniel Brown and his wife Karina, his niece Rebecca Elizabeth Belcher and her husband Jim, as well as a host of cousins, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Wharton's celebration of life will be Monday, May 20, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 at the Reformation Lutheran Church located at 102 W Rose Tree Rd, Media, PA 19063. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by interment and committal at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, 352 S. Gulph Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
