William H. Scheid, Jr. 11/20/47 – 6/7/19

Billy, Bill, WHS Jr., Dad, Pop Pop, Honey

Parents (deceased): William H. and Mary Alice. Siblings: Susan, Sally, and Andy. Sons: Harry and Sam. Granddaughter: Elizabeth. Wife: Debbbie.

Attended: The William Penn Charter School and Washington & Jefferson College

Occupation (retired): Manufacturer’s Rep, Specialized Metal

Billy enjoyed his morning coffee and his evening cocktail, the daily crossword (particularly the Sunday NY Times), cooking dinner on the grill, Phillies baseball and golf on tv. He was an avid reader of novels and biographies.

He was a good athlete, having played football and baseball when he was younger, then later playing fast pitch softball. He also liked to bike, golf, ski, and could play a wicked game of beach bocce.

He was a kid at heart with a great sense of humor and a love of a fun time. He had that devilish twinkle. But he also cherished his quiet and reflective solitude on occasion.

Billy’s “happy place” was the beach – especially Avalon/Stone Harbor. He loved to swim and to also bodysurf – going out before the guards came on, and later, after they left for the day. He had a fond appreciation for a beautiful sunset, always rooting for a “suncatcher” if there were clouds in the horizon. He was known for catching a few rays on the days that the sun was shining…

He did not suffer fools gladly.

And he will be missed.

There will be a Celebration of Life in Billy’s honor on 6/23/19 @ 2:00 at Aronimink Golf Club, 3600 St. Davids Rd, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Tributes will begin around 3:30. Please contact Debbie, Sam, or Bobby with any questions.

I will miss you my friend Billy! I am upset you would not allow us to visit, however I understand. You were your own man, you didn’t complain, you were a good listener, and always asked how are the kids, or how was I feeling?
Life now has new meaning, you can continue your walks without pain, and your smile has meaning.
