William Nelson Warden

William born on August 25,1939 in Augusta, Kansas to the late Warren Bailey and Charlotte (Life) Warden. He graduated from Swarthmore High School in 1957. In 1961 he graduated from the College of Wooster in Ohio. He served in the United States Army from 1962 – 1965 before being honorably discharged. During his time, he attended the Army Language School in Monterey, CA specializing in the Russian language where he made lifelong friends. He was part of the Intelligence service in Germany. He earned his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

In 1965 Bill met the love of his life Rosemary (Sweeney) in the undergraduate library at Penn. They were married in 1966 in Haddonfield, NJ at Christ the King Church. They began their marriage in Syracuse, NY where they had their children, Anne and Joseph. They have been married for 59 years. He had a career in pharmaceuticals for 50 years, ending his career at Wyeth in Radnor, PA. Rosemary and Bill had a second home in Stratton, VT where they spent many years skiing and golfing with friends. Bill’s hobby was genealogy.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Rosemary Warden, his daughter, Anne (David) Shannon, his son, Joseph B. Warden, his sister-in-law, Emily Warden, his grandchildren, Caroline, Lucy and William Shannon, and Julia and Ella Warden, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Warren and Charlotte, his brother, Robert B. Warden.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. Norbert Church, 6 Greenlawn Road, Paoli, PA 19301. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Villanova, PA.
