William John Yamarick

Born on January 11, 1957, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Bill’s childhood was shaped by adventure and new beginnings as his family relocated several times through his father Jack’s career with DuPont. He spent part of his youth in Atlanta, Georgia, before settling in Wilmington, Delaware, where he attended Concord High School. He later graduated from Shippensburg University, where he was a proud member of the Theta Chi fraternity and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime.

After college, Bill built both a successful career and a beautiful family in the Philadelphia suburbs, spending most of his adult life in Paoli. In 1986, he co-founded his business Garrick Hall and Associates. As an entrepreneur, mentor, and business leader, Bill built more than a successful company, he built lasting relationships. He genuinely cared about helping others succeed and took great pride in mentoring colleagues, friends, and especially his children.

While Bill loved his work, nothing meant more to him than his family and friends. He was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved, whether singing with a guitar in hand, staying up late telling stories, cheering on Philadelphia sports teams (especially the Eagles), or simply enjoying good conversation. His enthusiasm for life was contagious.

Throughout his life, Bill embraced the activities and pastimes that brought him joy and connected him with others. As a young man, he excelled on his high school diving team, earning medals, and he maintained a lifelong passion for music, sports, and automobile, especially his beloved Porsches, which brought him endless enjoyment. Yet perhaps no passion remained as constant as his love for the beach and the unforgettable memories it provided with those closest to him.

Bill cherished his lifelong connection to Long Beach Island, a place that held a special place in his heart from childhood through adulthood. He owned property there for many years and spent every opportunity he could by the ocean. Long Beach Island was more than a favorite destination; it was a gathering place where Bill created lasting memories with family and friends. He loved welcoming others into his home, always extending invitations to join him at the beach house. Bill found great happiness there, and his warmth and generosity made Long Beach Island a treasured place for so many who knew him.

That warmth and generosity extended far beyond the beach house and were hallmarks of the way Bill lived his life. Anyone who knew Bill knew his gift for making people feel special.

He had a remarkable ability to turn friends into family and bring people together through laughter. Known for his creative nicknames, unforgettable inside jokes, and warm sense of humor, Bill made every gathering brighter. Family and friends will always remember hearing him say, “The older I get, the better I was,” delivered with the smile and charm that made him so beloved.

Above all else, Bill was most proud of his children and grandchildren. He believed deeply in putting family first, working hard, striving for excellence, maintaining a positive outlook, and celebrating life’s successes together. His greatest legacy is not only the family he loved so fiercely, but also the countless lives he touched through his generosity, encouragement, mentorship, and unwavering belief in others.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Sullivan Yamarick; his children, Andrew (Jackie) Yamarick, Jessica (Connor) Bailey, Alana Yamarick, and Kate Yamarick; his cherished grandchildren, Jack, Elianna, Jackson, and Charlotte “Charlie,” with another grandchild expected later this year; his sisters, Janelle Yamarick and Sue Ellen Yamarick; and many extended family members and dear friends who became family throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helene Yamarick.

A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22, at 11:00am at Paoli Presbyterian Church. A reception will immediately follow at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern, PA.

Bill’s greatest gift was making those around him feel loved, valued, and capable of more than they believed possible. His laughter, music, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the people he loved and the lives he forever changed.
