She was born to the late Everett and Virginia Cloyd, on November 4, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas. The family moved to Kingman County and Varner, KS before settling in Pretty Prairie, KS. Beverly graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1965. She was active in debate, a skill she used throughout her life.
Beverly was a long-time resident of Heiskell, TN where she lived for over 20 years. She had previously moved from Kansas to California, and then to Tennessee. A highlight of her travels, and a bucket list item in her later years, was sinking her toes into the sand on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, HI.
Bev held many occupations throughout her life including telephone operator, medical secretary, bartender, and pharmaceutical packer. The majority of her career was with the US Post Office where she worked as a mail processor. Her years at the post office were cut short by an injury that forced her into retirement.
She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Beverly was a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Chapters in Lake Elsinore, CA, and Oak Ridge, TN. She also served as the representative of the Grand Chapter of Tennessee Order of the Eastern Star to the Grand Chapter of Australia.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Walter Duncan, her parents Everett and Virginia Cloyd, and her brother Roger Cloyd.
She is survived by her son Todd Grebel, daughter-in-law Terri Grebel, and significant other Dean Martin.
A memorial service will be held on October 14th, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church, 201 S Rhodes St, Pretty Prairie, KS. Refreshments will be served afterward to allow friends and family to share stories.
