Bruce lived in Minnesota until his family moved to Omaha in 1960. He enlisted in the Marines in 1968, where his love of communications and photography was born. After returning back home, he went on a blind date and met the love of his life in 1975. They married on Valentine's day the following year. They had 47 wonderful years of marriage, in which they had two daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Bruce worked most of his life in factory settings at Western Electric, Control Data, and Lucent Technologies. He worked a variety of shifts but always made time to attend his daughters' events.
Bruce was also a member of the Bellevue Amateur Radio Club. He assisted with many events, from the M.S. Bike Tour, to Field Day, to spotting tornados in order to keep Nebraskans' safe. If he wasn't on his HAM radio or photographing he could be found talking to other Veterans.
