Carl was born in South Sioux City, NE. and currently lived in Springfield, Ne. Carl served in the US Navy from 1944 – 1946 and was proud of this service. He was stationed on the USS Oransby, a troop transport ship as a seaman First Class, V6 and was on the USS Gunason for a short time when WWII ended. Carl worked s a dock foreman for Corn Belt supply in Sioux City, Ia. for several years, then after moving to Omaha he worked as a fork lift driver for Hinky Dinky warehouse and later retired to help Sedlacek Bros. building custom homes. He loved making lawn furniture .

Survived by Wife Shirley. Children & spouses Bonnie & Rick Baughman, Rick Santee, Kim & Mark Scholting, all Springfield. Jack Santee, Blair. Mary & Dustin Small, Sioux City,Ia., Carl J. & Linda Santee, Norfolk, Kathy & Bill Pearson, South Sioux City, Ne. 16 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren. Sisters: Bernice Summers, South Sioux City, Ne., Maretta Ballinger, Visalia, CA. many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Services Saturday 2:00 pm Springfield United Methodist Church. Interment: Springfield Cemetery. Visitation at mortuary: Friday 1-8 pm with family receiving friends from 4-7. In lieu of flowers Memorials directed to Springfield Library toward a memorial bench in his name.
