

Cliff was born in Hickory, North Carolina on August 6, 1944 to the late Clifton H. Mosteller, Sr and Marie (Saunders) Mosteller. He graduated from Hickory High School in May 1962 and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in June 1966. In May 1976, he received a master’s degree in education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. In 1996 he received a Master of Public Administration from University of Nebraska – Omaha.
He was married to Brenda Kay Hollar on August 23, 1964. They were blessed with two children, Joseph and Kendra.
A retired Air Force Colonel, Cliff flew over 300 combat mission, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, and thirteen Air Medals. After a decorated military career, he worked at the University of Nebraska’s College of Business Administration until his final retirement in 2012.
Cliff enjoyed supporting his North Carolina Tarheel’s, traveling to the Smokey Mountains, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as attending Sight & Sound Theater performances nationwide.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Brenda, granddaughter Ashley Christine Pecha, and great grandson McCoy Walter Damme.
He is survived by son Joseph Mosteller (Colleen), daughter Kendra Grelson (Eric), grandchildren Jacqueline Damme (Justin), Spencer Pecha, Aaron Grelson, Emma Grelson, Daniel Mosteller and Jacob Mosteller, great grandchildren Kalan, Briar and Lonnie Damme. His special Aunt Elizabeth “Lib” McClure, Sisters-in-law Mary Parkhurst, Ruth (Hollar) Ellie Brother -in -law Tim Hollar (Donna); many nieces and nephews; and his grand puppies,(Maggie, Lochlan and Remy) from Hearts, Hands, and Paws rescue who visited him daily and stayed by his side providing love and comfort in his final days.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 19th from 6-8pm at Kahler Dolce Mortuary, 441 North Washington Street Papillion, Nebraska 68046.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 20th at 1030am at First Lutheran Church, Papillion, Nebraska. Luncheon to follow in the church’s followship hall. Pastor Karl Zeigler will be officiating.
Burial will be in Hickory, North Carolina at Catawba Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kahler Dolce Mortuary, Papillion, Nebraska, Bass-Smith Funeral Home and Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, North Carolina.
The family of Cliff extends sincere gratitude to the many members of First Lutheran Church, friends from both civilian and military backgrounds, and especially the crew members of NEACP for their support, care, and comfort over the years. Appreciation is extended to Dr. Doug Moore, Dr. Erin Dahlke, Dr. Timothy Malloy, their clinical teams, nurses and elder care providers at the Grand Lodge ALF, and Cottage 82. His outstanding team with OnCare Hospice (Wendy, Drea, Abbi, Christy, Emily, Juanita, Felcia, Clariann, and Mandy) for their exceptional service in ensuring his comfort.
