Besides family, I think Dale must have been my first friend. Sunday School, church, vacation bible school, kindergarten, school bus rides, confirmation, car pooling, band, jr high, high school and graduation....the proximity of our family farms and birth year caused us to share many experiences. It seems your good heart, sincerety and hard work continued on throughout adulthood and has left your family with many warm memories. I’m sorry work responsibilities will keep me from celebrating your life on Saturday. Thanks for being such a kind and good friend to this little girl.

Thank You Farmer Helwig for all the years you provided a wonderful and informative time at your farm for our preschool children from Grace Baptist W.E.E. School . The children learned so much about how farms operate and how important farms and farmers and their families are to our community. The experience they had at your farm was something you can't get from a text book. They always enjoyed touching and seeing the big tractors and petting the animals and feeding them. Taking the hayrack ride to find their pumpkins in your fields was always the highlight of their visit. Thank You again Farmer Helwig for your time and devotion to those children, giving them a glimpse of a life I know you loved and valued.

Dale and I spent many hours together at farm sales as teenagers. He was always willing to help if asked. I can not remember a time when he didnt have a smile on his face. His friendship will be missed. His legacy lives on through his boys, good ones everyone of them.
