These words captured the life of a man with a servant heart whose faith was not merely spoken but lived each day.
Rev. Dell Bert Tschudin, 71, entered the kingdom prepared for him on June 6, 2026. Born on January 26, 1955, in Loup City, Nebraska, Dell was the son of Arlow and Doris (Christensen) Tschudin.
Dell spent most of his childhood in Litchfield, Nebraska, before moving to Ravenna, where he graduated from Ravenna High School in 1973. He continued his education at Kearney State College, earning a degree in Communications and Psychology in 1977. Answering God's call to ministry (literally knocking at his door), he attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1981.
On July 2, 1978, Dell married his high school sweetheart, Janet Willoughby, in Mason City, Nebraska. Together they built a devoted marriage of nearly 48 years, centered on Christ, family, and service to others.
Throughout his ministry, Pastor Dell faithfully served congregations across Nebraska, including American Lutheran Church in Filley, NE, Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bellevue, and Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Omaha. He also served as a campus pastor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha as well as a chaplain at Methodist Hospital.
Above all, Dell cherished his family, often bragging about his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; his children, Christen (Bryan) Guardiola, Erin (Ryan) Stubbe, and Paul (Courtney) Tschudin; his treasured grandchildren, Sophia, Teanna, Landon, Olivia, Scarlett, Cecelia, Ruby and Harlee; and his siblings, Kathleen Stubbs, Christine (Eytan) Gill, Rhonda Williams, and Tim (Shelley) Tschudin. He is also remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Dell is preceded in death by his father and mother.
Dell treasured the time spent with his family. One of his greatest joys was being “Po”, the nickname lovingly given to him by his grandchildren. Po was always wrestling with and tickling his grandchildren. His playful spirit was one of our favorite things about him. He was often seen with a camera in his hand – or resting on his shoulder – capturing life’s moments and leaving behind the priceless gift of seeing ourselves through his eyes.
Dell's servant heart was especially drawn to those in need. More than once, he was seen literally giving the shirt off his back, a blanket to keep someone warm or cash from his pocket. He had unwavering faith, which he professed to all who would, or wouldn’t, listen.
Dell lived his life devoted to Christ and sought to reflect his faith in both words and actions. He and Janet raised their children in a Christ-centered home, where faith, love, and service to others were guiding principles. His relationship with the Lord was evident to all who knew him.
While the loss of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend is devastating, we know he is no longer in pain and we find comfort in knowing he has done well, His good and faithful servant.
Delvis has left the building.
