Della J. McCoy

Papillion, NE, formerly of Sioux City, IA. Della Jane Hayes was born in Elm Creek, Nebraska on Aug. 29, 1927, and raised in south central Nebraska, graduating from Oxford High School in 1944. Later she moved with her family to Oregon, where she met Roger McCoy. They were married on April 23, 1949, in Sioux City, IA, and lived there until 2013. They had five children, and Della devoted her life to being a wife and mother. She was a big success in both roles. She was kind, considerate, and had a very strong work ethic. She was a loyal donor to the Sioux City Blood Bank and believed strongly in helping her neighbors. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing with her friends at the Sioux City Boat Club and Dakota Dunes. Della recorded the first ace by a woman at Dakota Dunes in 1991. She moved to the Omaha area for the last few years to be closer to her family.

Della was preceded in death by Husband: Roger. Parents: Martin & Della (Shaw) Hayes. Grand Daughter: Abigail Garcia. Brothers: Frank, William, Richard Hayes. Sisters: Helen Rosenthal, Irene Domingue.

Survived by Children: Kevin (Denise) McCoy, Omaha NE. Sean (Renee) McCoy, Phoenix, AZ. Molly McCoy (William Smialek), Tyler TX. Jill (Marty) O’Connor Leawood KS. Kelly (Robin) McCoy, Papillion NE. Grandchildren: Kevin (Kara) Robinson, Jennifer (Richard) Voycheske, Ryan McCoy, Andrew Smialek, Adam Smialek, Shane O’Connor, Devin (Madeline) O’Connor, Shannon McCoy, Daniel McCoy. Great Grandchildren: Ethan McCoy, Aydia Voycheske, Braden Robinson. Sisters: Ruth Stevens, JoAn Loop Hostler.

A big thanks to the staff at Hillcrest Country Estates, Cottage 50, who stopped at nothing to make Della’s stay there comfortable and enjoyable.
