She was born on October 26, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas, to Robert “RP” Williams and Verna Mae Williams (Epps). Virginia had three brothers, Robert, Henry, and Barney, and two sisters, Imogene and Louise.
Ethel will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude for the gentle steadiness of her presence and the warmth she brought to those around her. In the quiet, faithful ways that often matter most, she made others feel cared for and valued—truly cherished by her family and all who knew her.
For much of her life, Ethel devoted herself to home and family as a homemaker. Bud and Virgina opened and ran their own business, S & S Taxi—an endeavor that reflected her willingness to work hard and build something meaningful alongside the person she loved. They both enjoyed being outdoors and in nature. In quieter moments, she found comfort and joy in reading—a lifelong pleasure that suited her gentle spirit.
Ethel lived in Texas her whole life until she married the love of her life, Farmer “Bud” Shell Jr. With Bud’s service in the Air Force, they were stationed all over the world, meeting each season of change with grace and devotion. Together they welcomed one son, Ricky Shell. In time, Ethel felt she gained a daughter as well when Ricky married Becky.
Above all, Ethel’s love for her family was constant and evident. She adored her grandchildren, Christopher and Brittany, she cherished every minute she got to spend with them and held them close in her heart.
