Geraldine Johnson

Geraldine (Gerri) Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on 3 August 2025 at the age of 70 at The Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on 20 October 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio where she grew up; until 1971 when she moved to Kansas City, Missouri.

She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City in 1973. She earned certifications in cooking and nursing. Geraldine worked in various roles, including at Parmelee Plastic Company and Cleveland Health as a Certified Medication Technician. She met her beloved husband Ivano Lawrence Johnson in 1975, and they married in 1979. Together they raised two daughters, Shikith, Mary and son Jarmal. Geraldine deeply loved her family and was always proud of her children and grandchildren.

Geraldine accepted Christ as a teen and remained faithful throughout her life. In Kansas City, she and her husband, Ivano, were active members of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. After relocating to Omaha in 2016, they attended Reality Church and Arrows Church until their health declined.

She was talented in cooking, sewing, and decorating. Her home was always welcoming, and she had a warm, gracious presence that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother Viola Johnson who passed away in 1969 and father Arthur James Johnson who passed away in 1970. Also her brothers Tom and Jerry, and her aunt Ethel and uncle Robert Burton.

Geraldine is survived by her husband of nearly 46 years, Ivano; daughters Shikith (Lamonte) Russell and Mary Johnson; son Jarmal Johnson; grandchildren Jarmila, Jarlicia, Deiona, Nadia, Donavan, and Caleb; and many family and friends, including her dear friend Karen Presswood.

The family would like to thank CHI Hospital Staff, CHI Home Hospice, and the Josie Harper Hospice House for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary, 441 North Washington Street, Papillion, NE 68046 on Saturday, 9 August 2025 at 1:00 PM.

Interment to follow at The Omaha National Cemetery 14250 Schram Road Omaha, NE 68138 on Monday, 11 August, 2025 at 9:00 AM
