Hamako I. Hamilton, 94, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her children on February 14, 2023. Hamako was the daughter of Unosuke and Kotami (Kanegawa) Inoue. She was raised on a small farm outside of Kobe, Japan, where she described her childhood as simple and serene. She was the youngest of seven children. After moving to Tachikawa outside of Tokyo to work after WWII, she met her future husband and ultimately came to the United States through the Port of Honolulu on July 12, 1959. She proudly became an American citizen in 1965. During her life as an Air Force spouse, she supported her family with incredible grace and strength when military orders moved the family to Massachusetts, Florida, Hawaii, and finally Nebraska, where she spent her last 52 years. Hamako will always be remembered for her wit, directness, and loving heart. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed tremendously by those who knew her and loved her.
Hamako is survived by her three children, MSG (Ret) Makoto (Jessica) Hamilton, the Honorable Riko (Jamie) Bishop, and Col (Ret) Robert (Sharon) Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Eric (Nicole), Michael (Ryan), Jonathan, Kirk (significant other Amanda), Joshua (significant other Aly), Connor, and Jacob; and four great grandchildren, Brie, Camille, Bradley, and Scarlett. She is predeceased by her former husband, MSgt (Ret) Robert W. Hamilton, Jr.
A private family memorial service is pending.
