Herbert Paul Weissenfels Jr.

Herbert (Herb or Coach) Weissenfels Jr. died April 29, 2023 in Papillion, Nebraska at age 81 after a battle with cancer. He was born in South Hampton, New York, graduated college in Valparaiso, Indiana then moved his family to Colorado. He taught and coached kids, which was his calling. He continued his education and got his Master’s to become a school administrator, but kids were always the most important. After retiring in Arizona, he moved back to Colorado and worked with Shepherd of the Hills School, a funeral director and a passion was with CASA. He always wanted to help people.

Herb is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patty; children, Anne Holmstrom and Brad Weissenfels; sister, Diana Steenburg; extended siblings, Todd and Jamie Silverstone; grandchildren, Ariel, Christine, Romie, and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Blake, Gunnar, and Kenneth; other extended family and lifelong friends.

A service to celebrate Herb’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 6 at First Lutheran Church, 420 N. Washington St., Papillion, Nebraska.
